LIFE IN GENERAL

I don't think that life actually gets better - or worse - over time...it changes. It could be that only our expectations differ

For every "advance" there seems to be a price paid elsewhere. It's up to the individual to decide whether the advance has actually been worth the price we pay.

Most people seem blessed with a ready-made pair of blinkers strapped to their heads. Tunnel vision. They have the ability to focus on one thing whilst totally disregarding the ramifications that happen elsewhere.

What the hell are we doing to the planet we live on???

We all need wood. We burn it for heat. We build with it. But we don't seem to give a damn where it comes from. We don't even care that it's running out! Worse, we don't care that as the wood runs out, so the atmosphere of the planet suffers. I just cannot get my head around that concept.

The same applies to oil; perhaps even more so. Ditto everything above!

A quote that speaks volumes: "The only thing required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." -Thomas Paine.

I guess the word "good" is a relative term. As must be "evil". Be that as it may, taken at its face value this quote means that we are all fundamentally evil. At least, I think that's what it means.

Here's another telling quote..."Since we are destined to live out our lives in the prison of our minds, our one duty is to furnish it well." -Peter Ustinov.

IF

This one: "IF" by Rudyard Kipling - (Which I merely top-and-tail here) has been a favourite of mine just about all my life. I have tried, and mostly failed, to live by it. I have also tried, and failed, to remember who introduced me to it in the first place.

It starts...

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you..."

And it finishes...

"If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

The Political Correctness lobby are no doubt having apoplexy over that last stanza!
It's in my mind that many of the stupidities in life today are a direct result of that same Political Correctness lobby and those who pander to it.
