exactly right! i dont know why they bother anymore. grades have turned into a useless waste of time

Snap, Katy! It was exactly the same when I took my grades. By the time I took each subsequent grade I had totally forgotten all I had "learned" in the previous grades. I still don't remember that stuff now. But I have pieces of paper that tell me I am a certified Grade 6 musician. I suppose it's lucky that I decided to be a carpenter in the end, learning the trade in the School of Life. I have no pieces of paper, but I earn a very good living, thank you very much!

phew! at last. someone agrees with me. its exactly how I felt when I took my grade 5. it was all about churning out scales and a couple of tunes I had learned parrot-fashion. there was nothing musical about it. Thanks!
